Hot on the heels of the recent revelations of the murky personal relationships of Jessie Davis's accused murderer and boyfriend, Bobby Cutts Jr, parents Hagar and Goodman, who evidently found saying no a challenge, the Blythe case hits the headlines. Blake Bythe is currently being held on a $1 million bond and faces a possible sentence of life in prison because he got his 11 year old girlfriend pregnant last year.
Both Blythe's mother and the mother of the girl were also charged and convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both women received one year of probation each and neither is allowed to have unsupervised contact with any minor under the age of 17. This is due to the fact that not only did both mothers know about the relationship but they also consented to the two of them having sex.
"Not guilty by reason of insanity. He will be sent to forensics center in Ypsilanti," said Richard Glanda, Blythe's attorney.
I haven't met Blythe but I still have to wonder what type of insanity can lead a 19 year-old man to not only hang out with an 11 year-old girl, but to have sex with her. I have always thought that fell within the realm of being a pediphile and while it is a sickness, I have never thought of it as being insane. Now the two mothers involved, their attitude of condoning the relationship in all it's "glory" , that is insane. Blythe's mother could have done very little legally, to keep her son away from the girl but an 11 year-old's mother sure can send the authorities running after a 19 year-old man.
Blythe's attorney has said that the 11 year-old and her younger brother have been removed from their mother's home and neither can have unsupervised contact with her. The baby is also with the 11 year-old. Now I do understand child services aim to keep the family unit together in most states but I again have to question the long-range thought involved here, if there is any. How do they feel an 11 year-old is able to care for a baby and if she is in fact, not caring for the child, is it fair to have the baby being raised by another alongside it's child parent? If good can be gained from situation, would not that good include allowing the baby a chance at a "normal" life with parents to raise it away from the insanity and damage left by the mothers involved.
