About that raise

There was a double murder in East Point GA, Thursday, July 26 2007 . The police didn't have their man until two days later, when Rolandas Milinavicius turned himself in and confessed to the killings.

"It doesn't make any sense. If he was having money problems, these two would have been the ones to help him get out debt. They would have helped him make that money," stated Jaunius Simokaitis, a cousin of one of the victims.

Milinavicius, 38, a native of Lithuania, started RM Auto International two years ag, hoping to meet the demand for American cars back home. He began shipping cars and later hired Inga Contreras, 25 and Martynas Simokaitis, 28, both from Lithuania, to help him in his business. At some point, he began to have financial problems and told police that he was under a lot of stress. To add to that stress, his two employees were not very happy with their pay and began asking him for a raise.

This continued for some time he stated and on that Thursday, he took out his anger on them.......... shooting them both. Tuesday, July 31, Fulton County Magistrate Judge Sylvia McCoy read the charges against him while he listened with an interpreter. Two counts of murder, two counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, denied him bond and set his next court date for Aug 14 2007.

Simokaitis and Contreras were cremated and an informal memorial service was held at a cousin's apartment over the weekend. Their remains were to be flown back to Lithuania on Tueday.

Usually, there is the fear of an employee "going postal" but in this case, it seems that asking for a raise one time too often had fatal results.
