What a pickle

"If this is not the silliest case I've ever seen in this courtroom, it certainly is in the top 10," stated Berrien Trial Court Judge Scott Schofield.

According to the police reports, Bobby Lee Bolen, 35, of Buchanan MI, broke into the home of Jodi Lee on August 20 2007. Bolen then reportedly got into an argument there and ended up throwing two large pickles at friends Lee and J W Romanski III. He was arrested and charged with several counts, including assault.

On Monday, October 29, Judge Scott Schofield sentenced Bolen to 54 days in jail with credit for the 54 days he had served and gave him one year of probation. He added restitution to the sentence for the third-offense home invasion but dropped two counts involving the assault and one involving cutting or interfering with phone lines.

While Schofield stated that it was a silly case, he added that it was serious as well. Assistant Prosecutor Kelly Travis stated that the situation was completely needless. She added that Bolen is probably in need of anger management in hopes of finding out why he would commit a felony over pickles.

Bolen's defense attorney, Robert Lutz stated that he felt that alcohol was at the root of his client's problems. In either case, I think I will have to be adding several more items to the "deadly weapon" list I have...... cheetos and now pickles.
